Optimal Wavelength Routing on Directed Fiber Trees

چکیده
We present a polynomial time greedy algorithm that assigns proper wavelengths to a set of requests of maximum load L per directed ber link on a directed ber tree using at most 5=3L wavelengths. This improves previous results of 12, 10, 8, 9]. We also prove that no greedy algorithm can in general use less than 5=3L wavelengths for a set of requests of load L in a directed ber tree, and thus our algorithm is optimal in the class of greedy algorithms which includes the algorithms presented in 12, 10, 8, 9].

Work in Progress: Cost Bounds of Multicast Light-trees in WDM Networks
The construction of light-trees is one principal subproblem for multicast routing in sparse splitting Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) networks. Due to the light splitting constraint and the absence of wavelength converters, several light-trees may be required to establish a multicast session. However, the computation of optimal multicast light-trees is NP-hard. In this paper, we study th...
متن کاملA Note on Optical Routing on Trees
Bandwidth is a very valuable resource in wavelength division multiplexed optical networks. The problem of nding an optimal assignment of wavelengths to requests is of fundamental importance in bandwidth utilization. We present a polynomial-time algorithm for this problem on xed constant-size topologies. We combine this algorithm with ideas from Raghavan and Upfal 15] to obtain an optimal assign...
متن کاملEfficient Wavelength Routing in Trees with Low { Degree
We study the use of limited wavelength conversion in order to increase bandwidth utilization in WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) all-optical networks. A measure of the complexity of a converter is given by its maximum degree (i.e., the maximum number of potential conversions of any given wavelength). We present trade-oos between the complexityof the converters and the number of wavelength...

متن کاملWavelength Routing on DirectedFiber Trees ?
We address the issue of eeciently assigning wavelengths to communication requests in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical networks. We consider directed tree and tree of rings topologies. These are topologies of concrete practical relevance for which undirected underlying graph models have been studied by Raghavan and Upfal 6]. Directed models were rst studied by Mihail et al 4]. For ...
